Zombies! Thaahsands of 'em, sir!
Date: 1 July
Venues: Leeds & Birmingham

This is a 'Wide Area Megagame', running in multiple venues in the UK and elsewhere simultaneously. We will run two of the many games, trying to cope with a disaster befalling the United States. Players will represent state and city officials, trying to make best use of limited intelligence and resources.  Two key differences between the game we ran last year and this one are that each game will be run at state level, with a number of cities in play, using open maps visible to players, unlike the closed (hidden) map we used before.
Main Roles and Responsibilities
Please note that number of players and teams will vary due to game size (which can accommodate between 40 and 100+)
A city team will start at 5 players, so ideal for a group of friends who want to play together.

  • State Governor and staff (1 team of up to 4) - Responsible for managing the mayors and their expectations, liaison with the Federal team, other governors and other parties with an interest in testing out new products in the state...
  • Federal Representatives (1 team of up to 3) - Responsible for liaison with the White House, Pentagon and other federal agencies. What Men in Black?
  • State Police / Sheriffs (1 team of up to 4) - Providing additional support to individual city police teams, showing them how it's done and maintaining open lines of communication across the state to facilitate .
  • State National Guard (1 team of 3) - Responsible for assessing the requirements of individual towns and deploying units to assist the civil authorities in restoring order in this time of excitement.
  • City Government - The Mayor and staff (4-5 teams of 2-4) Maintaining a sense of calm, spreading good cheer and ensuring that any extra resources are delivered to  *your* (voting) populace.
  • City Police Department (4-5 Teams of 1-3) Map-based mechanics in action, maintaining law and order. Donuts not provided.
  • City Emergency Services (4-5 teams of 1-4) Action at the map and in the hospitals, dealing with casualties and the effects of an exuberant National Guard with automatic weapons. Stat! Goddammit, why did this one have to die, WHY?
  • The News Media (1 team of up to 4) Veronica Corningstone and Ron Burgundy versus the Hordes. Stay classy.
  • ZombieMeisters (4-6) - Responsible for ensuring that the zombies are as problematic and dangerous as possible.
  • Medi-Tech Corporations ( 1 team of up to 4) Only present in the larger games. Every governor and mayor should get the chance to decide whether they want to risk using the fruits of their labours though...
  • Control Team (8-12) We have a number of regulars lined up for these games, but a few new faces wouldn't hurt and there will be briefings in advance.
